I know the machines that you are talking about very well!!! Main thing is to make sure you buy something decent so you don't stick a lot of money into it. If you can find a machine in great shape, you will not go wrong with one of these machines. Simple, reliable, and usually only have minor problems. There are many updates for them and you can get parts for them. Chevy 292 is THE BEST straight 6 that GM had ever come out with. Make sure it's the heavy duty (orange) and runs good (oil, temperature) and sounds good. We ran thousands of hours on these machines at full throttle and they are great to run, smooth and powerful. The standard transmission as long you change the gear lube, are also great systems, more powerful and constant speed then a hydro. Simple and direct system to speed up and slow it down. F2 would probably be the way to go. Good luck in your search!

Great machines-many were sold so both new and used parts are available from us and from many others. Check out the variable drive sheaves for wear in the hubs and check the trans input for loose bearings. Bill
