Combines Chopper for 1480

We put in disrupters and it does help some. However they also increase shoe load as more small stuff winds up going over the shoe. We put on a set of the new curved spreader blades off of a 2388 last fall. That *really* made a big differenc. The spread is nice and even the full header width. No tilled behind on some, and first pass with a field cultivator on some with no problem. Some custom customers run a disc chisel right behind the combine with no trouble. Personally, I wouldn't worry about a chopper, just spend about $165 on the spreader bats. Chads

Thanks for the info. We do not no till so a reasonable amount of residue is no problem. Did you speed up your spreaders as well when you installed the batsIJ
