Hi, I have a 5500 drill for about 10 years now. I really like it very much. Mine is setup with min-till openers (not a no-till drill)on 7.5 inch spacing. to lift on the ends to turn just one hyd lever to raise and lower, the whole drill raises up then, I only raise it just enough to clear the ground and disengage seed drive clutches turn and drop. The markers on mine is not automatic so as I turn I flip a switch manually. I don't know much about JD 455 so can't compare for you. I'm familure with 750's, they only raise the openers. The only thing I don't like is when raised it is tail heavy, no weight on drawbar, not good in a mudhole. saw a 1999- 5500 drill sell on a farm sale today $12000 rough shape. Ted CenOH

looking at one in north central Ill. Says its a 99 model with serial n 130419 Asking $15500. 455's here go from $15000 to $25000 that new. What press wheels do you haveIJ This one has 2x12. Its otherwise set up like yours.

yes I have the min-till offset leading edge disc openers with the 2x12 adjustable depth press wheels. They also could have the conventional disk opener ( not off set) with I think the same press wheel. Also could have the 900 corn planter openers for no-till with closing disc and wide_short press wheel (15 inch spacings only). Depends on how you want to plantIJ Ted CenOH

Thanks, I will call Polo on Monday. Its made kind of like I thought it was. I was thinking it raised up that way. I was using a 455 30 foot and the top strap piece of the drawbar came loose while turning and the tounge went what seemed like 10 feet in the air.
