The kits are not the only way to order parts instead the kits are meant to be a way to save money on parts. In order to offer these parts savings the dealer must order in advance and wait for a longer period of time to receive them. The catalogs are meant to be a tool for the customer and the dealer to use to plan in advance what their parts needs will be for the upcoming season. If you want parts immediately your dealer can order individual pieces through their stocking depot and usually have them overnight.

As long as you are tied to red paint, and the OEM's continue to sense that and know it, the OEM network will be in control, not you the customer. Order from the aftermarket guys. They have the stuff in stock in harvest season, and at a better price than the "long wait" price with no wait, and they are same quality if not better. Bonus for all farmers.

Added the HD concave support kit to both combines this fall, dealer has them in stock. Needed the HD clean grain cross auger + conversion bearings_sprocket_spacer,dealer had it in stock. Wanted to add the concave adjuster kit Partsman said they were out and the nearest was at a dealer 100 miles away. Was heading out the door planning on a long trip when the manager got wind of what was going on. He told the partsman to make up a kit out of parts and sold it to me for the kit price. A dealer is only as good as he wants to be. I have a good one :)

Did you put in the concave adjuster kit yet and what size machine do you haveIJ I tried to order that kit and my parts man talked me out of it. Said it was a major job.

I installed the adjuster kit in a 1480 and 1482 PT . Not a really bad job as the original 3 holes align the new plates to drill the 5 new 5_8 holes. It helps to have an extended drill bit (24 inch )to drill the rear holes I had to fabricate and weld on the tab for the jacker bolts. took us about 2 hrs per combine.

I also am frustrerated by the lack of dealer support from CIH.I do agree the dealer makes some differance. Here one company owns all the stores in southern Alberta. So they have you over a barrel unless you want to drive 100 miles. last year ordered chopper blade kit in July received Oct 15. Combine was put to bed for winter already. Also needed engine parts. Cummins was exactly half the cost and next day service on a part from Memphis TN to Calgary AB. Case from warehouse in Regina sk was a 2 day wait. The poor parts support almost makes me GREEN.

I don't know why you guys don't just go to the aftermarket guys who stock the stuffIJ

Well, I do. n1 I don't know of an aftermarket source in this province. n2 Some aftermarket parts cost significantly more than OEM. n3. Some aftermarket parts are definitely not worth the savings because quality is poor.

I went to an after market supplier for the incline auger in the grain tank. It took them 4 weeks to decide to tell me they had to make one. Good prompt service from loewen. I agree it's the dealer that make the difference, I have a dealer 7 miles from me and I deal with the dealer that is 240 miles away because he has the items in stock, and if he doesn't, he'll search other dealers for me.
