That agreemeant was terminated in late 1995.Claas came to Massey with a new combine in 95 and it looked good buy Massey said it would never sell because of the price so Claas went to Cat.In the summer of 97 the 8680 Massey conventional was introduced to replace the Claas built 8460.

Basicly new from the ground up,comes in both,Massey red and Gleaner silver.Has a 62 inch cylinder,260 hp and apparently has quite a bit of capacity.I've never run one or been around one when it was running but suppose to be quite impresive.Around here most combines are rotory.

They are not new at all. This design is all Gleaner and goes back to the old l-3's last made in 1987. About half of its parts are shared with the Gleaner rotaries. I understand that Allis Chalmers had this design in the works to replace the l-3, but financial problems caused it to be shelved and AGCO finally was able to introduce it.

Didn't know they had 260 horse Cummins C Series engine in the mid 80's.lol. But you are right that they do have a lot of Gleaner in them. The big brass at Agco just wanted to keep them silver for Gleaner but Massey is by far its largest division so they reluctuntly painted them red.Believe me when I say that they sell a lot more 8680 combines than they do C-62.
