We had a G hydro that had full tracks on it. You pulled the wheel and tire off and put on a drive sprocket. It was built out of a td6 dozer. There where 48" oak 4x4s mounted on the tracks. this machine almost floated. I have had water run in my knee boots when I steped down to the ground. You did most of the steering with the brakes. I have some old pictures of her in full feild dress. I will have to dig them out.
