XTPuller, I hear your concern. I bought a 94 R62 with the same situation and havent found anyone with an answer as of yet either. I do know one thing for sure though, DONT use aluminum acidizer on it. There was an R70 on ebay that look like a trick machine but the guy wanted to clean it and used the acidizer and it totally screwed up the galvanize. Maybe someday we will figure out how to make these older machines that sat outdoors shine again. I really wish I could figure this one out also. If you get an answer make sure you leave it on the boards for all of us trying to figure it out.

I Add vinager to wheel cleaner, this does remove some oxidation, also in the rust area try very fine rubbing compound. A buffer with a finishing wax can do a good job as well.

limeaway just like clr tends to leave streaks in my opinion. Whoever said vinegar and wheel cleaner I believe is on the right track although I havent tried it. But these cleaners like clr just clean on contact so you get streaks but if you had some sort of mixture that you rubbed on I think it would work. Just my 2 cents although I highly reccomend testing anything in a place that will not be noticed. I speak from experiece, because if anyone sees a old gleaner with a nasty spot on the side youll know its me.
