The alternative to a cross-flow fan kit is the Hillco fan modification kit. We have several of these kits priced at $100.00 each while the supply lasts. For more information on the Hillco kit, click on the link below.

I'd like to hear from people who have used the hillco fan kit. Thanks!

I installed crossflow fan kits on two 1680's. I saw little if any difference in the sample. My best friend traded for 2188 and still had dirty samples esp. in beans. I traded for 2366 and had some improvement, but was still not happy. We both intalled the kit form Future Farming Solutions and saw no improvement in beans. My 2366 does seem to have a cleaner corn sample, but I really think that is because I run an 8 row head and keep the rotor cage full all the time. I would like to know myself if any of the add ons really have made a difference. If I were you Iwould want to talk to some one in your immediate area that harvests the same crops with similar yields before I spent any money!!!

It is as you describe, dirty samples exist with or without the fan kit, and with or without the cross-flow fan. What I noticed is increased shoe capacity with either setup.

Get the FFS air deflector. I have a 1660 use it for wheat, canola, oats , barley, peas totally different combine. You can run the machine full, never worry about plugging return elevator. A few pages back in this directory there is one of my long winded expalnations on how it improves the machine.

I think the best step to take first is the Air Deflector. If you are not sure, take the chaffer out and use some streamers so that you can see how the air goes through the lower sieve. The deflector will even that out, which I feel is the logical first step. Don't waste money on the cross flow fan, but I like the looks of the fan kit that M Gorden referred to, because when you get the air flow evened out you may need more air than the stock fan can provide. If you have corn, I'm not sure what to suggest, but for the smaller grains the adjustable air foil lower sieve in combination with the adjustable air foil chaffer really work nice.

Gorden, I agree with you about increased capacity. I went from 1680 to 2366 and was very concerned about running an 8 row corn head on the 66. As it turned out I have had no problem and I strongly suspect one of the reasons was the fan kit allowed for greater capacity. In fact my corn sample is better with the 66 and I think it is because I can run the combine consistently full. When asked what I thought about my new machine by the service man who helped me get it going, I told him I thought I had been spending to much money on combines. His response was that he had been trying to tell people that for years. Many of the compaints about the rotor system resulted from not being able to keep it full enough by people who did not like to race horse machines, and on the other hand from people who thought you could run as fast as the machine would go without having any loses.

I have the same fan kit buts made by a different company here in Canada. It helps get more more air into the center. I think its helps more on the wider 80 series combines. It was on the combine when I got it and seems to work good. like the other poster mentioned best to talk to some local that has it in similar conditions.
