Take sprocket and bearing out of left hand side unbolt right hand side.I took shaft to machine shop and had keyways cut into shaft as original blade holder are loctited on. You can order new blades for around 16 dollars a piece.

Thanks for the reply.I am hoping to find a good complete fan but may be forced into buying new, It does make sence to have the fan blade holders keyed on instead of lock tight. Since mine are all loose does anybody know the measurements to reinstalling them onto the shaftIJ mine is a late model m machine Are the m2 the sameIJ

Bill, You sould be able to find a fan in a yard out of a M2_M3. Early M2's had a sigle sprocket on lH side like yours and the later M2's and M3's had a double sprocket on lH side.Should be able to swap sprockets.Width and drive should be the same. As huskergleaner stated the head assy's. are loctited to shaft.New fans will have head assy's. clamped to shaft. Have been lucky to find a new style in the yards once in a while. Hyper harvest II thanks for the advice, I will be calling in the morning about used. I only have ten acres to go so I will have to get something done soon or be forced to have a green machine finish my crop from one of the neighbors. By using lock tight to hold the fan together seemed like a poor design. I had a snap ring let loose or lock tight failed as the shaft spins free on the shaft( whats left of it}Good to know there was a design changed.I tryed getting the 15 tooth sprocket off but it wont budge. I heated it very hot and still wont move. after lunch I guess I will have to cut it off.thanks Bill

Bill, The sprocket on the lH side is normal RH thread meaning you need to turn it counter clockwise to remove. We usually rig up a pipe wrench with short length of pipe over it so it will rest on floor on RH side.Then after heating sprocket break it loose with pipe wrench on lH side. Just wanted to make sure you were removing sprocket by turning the right direction.(Have seen threads gauld to shaft and torch removal is required) Hyper Harvest II

Thanks, I had a new sprocket so thats the way I was trying to get it off. I think after 31 years of being on the shaft it is just being stubborn I will find out very shortly thanks again

The shaft on a M and late M2 M3 are differnt lengths but I used a shat out of a M on a M3 all I die was reverse the pulley on right hand side left hand side is the same.

Thanks for all everyones help. I finished up the harvest. A dealer said he had a good fan assembly. Turned out to be bad. I did find one on a parts machine. The threads came off the shaft of my as I took the sprocket off. The used one I have is the older style not the clamp on heads and had spun bearings on the shaft, for now I put shim tape on shaft to make up the space. I plan on taking it off and putting a new shaft in or have the shaft spray welded and having the heads and shaft machine for keys so it wont happen again On my oringal heads on the shaft someone didnt due a very good jod of lock tighting them as most heads only held on by less than a 1_8 inch of lock tight. I was digging out pieces of fan blades from every where when I torn mine apart. The help from the members on this board really is priceless. Thanks again Bill
