Top rpm on fan is 1300. Concave is original (I can't tell you how many bars) and is in good condition. Is the 13 bar the 10 series concaveIJ

Yes the Ten series Concave is a 13 bar while the other is a 14 bar. First thing I would try is to get a kit to speed up the fan speed. You can get this at your local dealer. We run 1400 to 1500 RPM when cutting soybeans. Make sure the concave is set between 0-4. This will help a bunch. And maybe in the off season upgrade to a 13 bar concave. We installed the new 13 bar concave this year and it has really helped the machine keep clean beans in the tank.

Hi Steve I live in Ontario Canada and farmed with JD combines my whole life. I find under tough conditions in soybean harvest -the tighter the cylinder +faster the cylinder speed the better. I run both 9500 +9400 combines . The most important rule is crop ready and in good shape for harvesting. simple rules of starting settings are. 1. cylinder speed 850 rpm +or- 2. concave setting n3 +or- 3. precleaner closed chaffer at a .5 inch extension .65 sieve at a .25 inch Just some suggestions - Hope it helps you

Thanks for the suggestions. I was just wondering....don't you have trouble cracking beans running the cylinder at 850IJ I've never run mine that fast. My other settings are pretty much the same as yours. What do you run for fan speedIJ

It always depends on the moisture of the bean. If splits become a problem . More than likely I would open my concave first then slow my cylinder second. As for fan speed I run around 1050 rpm under full combine load.
