No direct experience with this trait, but know it will be a very useful tool in certain areas. The best part is it is non-GMO.

Genetically modified is basically just a much faster way to develop new varieties with the traits you want. I think the benifits far outweigh the negatives. Why are people so afraid of changeIJ What's the differance between 'GMO' and triticaleIJ Wasn't triticale genetically modified from two very different types of grainsIJ Just a different more time consuming method.

Had a trial of a "Janz" Clearfield wheat on our place last year. The planting was very late but was an interesting comparison none the less. The trial involved strait Janz, clearfield janz and the Hartog wheat we had planting in the rest of the field. I haven't seen the plot harvester results, but I went in afterward and cleaned up with our machine and really couldn't pick up any yeild loss between the clearfield and the non varieties. Belive it or not, despite being planted in early August (normally early May) the Janz seemed to even hold it's own and came in for harvest at a similar time to the Hartog.
