Combines CNH vs UAW

I certainly agree that they have quality issues. I recently had to have a pilot bearing for the input shaft on a combine pto honed, to enable the shaft to fit inside. Machinist commented that the error was in in the CNH product, I also put a 2" Mic on the shaft to witness myself. I know the shop foreman suspected it was my AandI shaft, but it was not.

The problem, is that at this point, the Union tries to hold the company up every couple of years, no matter what. Cat and Big Green have had their runins with the Unions as well. However, one has to note, that a Union dispute is one of the things that helped bring IH down in the first place. Chads

John Deere equipment made in the USA is made by UAW union workers and they don't seem to have a quality problem nor does Caterpillar. A professor in a personel management class once told me companies that have the union that they deserve. The example of a none-union shop is lincoln Electric makers of lincoln welders and electric motors who have never had a union and will never have a union because of the way they treat the employees and pay them huge bonus's when the company makes a profit. Any union organizer would get run off immediately and not by hired goons paid by management. There are two sides to every conflict.

Nicely said. So, what do you think was the Gleaner problemIJ Rumors had it that AGCO was fighting quality problems in their Independence, MO plant and therefore moved the combine production to Hesston, KS.

From what I have seen, the quality coming out of hesston is not as good as independence.I dont know about union involvement at either place.

opinions are like as@n@nholes everybody has one and pretty much thats what you'll get on here my as@n$hole says in any buisness managment has to reward the workers when the work is well done and workers need to strive to do good work, both hands have to work together or they'll never do a good job of getting them clean one side should never be guarenteed of anything except that doing a good job will be rewarded, managment will know they have top quality equipment
