Just the engine block need's heating.Once you get the motor running it is wise to put trans. in neutral and put hydro forward to warm up fluid.The rotor pump can get ran a little also just to get the fluid moving.
Tried that, used an oilpan heater, engine would hardly turnover. It has started fine when it was -12c and didn't have the oilpan heater. I must be overlooking something.
