Combines combine class sizes

Combine class size has two determining factors. 1) Engine horsepower. 2) Hopper capacity. That is all that makes anything a "class whatever". I'm not sure on class 5 or 6, but all you need to be a class 7 is 300+ engine HP. and 300+ grain tank capacity. So I guess a 2388 or 9610 with hopper extensions and the fuel turned up would be class 7 machines. I wish there were more factors, such as throughput capacity, screen area, or seperating area to make a determination, that way we could make a more informed purchase based on thrash capacity and not just HP. and hopper capacity. Thank you, Salesman. like you, I am surprised to see such simple, mundane things are what makes up classes. I was hoping to put together a chart identifying the class_specs for reference. Since that is all it takes, I want to take a Deere 7700, put an oversized, honkig big engine on it and build up the bin to 400 bushels and call it a Class IX!!! How does that grab you BIG combine boysIJ [BIG GRIN]!!!
