Combines Combine field fire

On tuesday Oct 2 we were harvesting soybeans and stopped to lube chains in the middle of the afternoon .I could smell smoke . After further inspection I had found burning embers of soybean dust on left side of combine from the flat plate by the seperator clutch and all other places where dust could collect on back to the straw chopper. It was a warm and windy day with highs in the 80's . We fortunately were near a house so we could hose down the hot embers before the combine caught fire. This is the first year for me with a TR-99. We found one spot in the soybean field that was starting to burn and we were able to put it out by hand. We are going to carry a 2 gallon hand sprayer along with our fire extinguisher.I found that the smoldering bean dust was not easily extinguishable with the fire extinguisher alone.

We have carried a couple 2 1_2 gallon herbicide containers filled with water for years now. We strap them on with tarp straps. Water is there fast if you need it.
