you may be doing the right thing but keep in mind an increase in price for next year and the lower resale of your current machine. Also check to see if any Tax incentives are available for this year that might not be next year. good luck
I agree that it is a smart move. Better time to get the planning in place for picking up the additional acres. I think the wait will be worth it on the STS, the improved air package should be out by then and the 9860 will have a full year under it's belt. Do use the time to give a good test on both the Deere and the Case. let us know how that goes.
Wise decision on your part. The Caseih 8010 would be my choice; but, still needs more field trials to uncover any more engineering weakpoints. JD uses cast iron parts in the rotor cage. That tells you their design is a high wear design and more costly to maintain than other rotor designs used by other manufactures. A big Massey combine is another combine to consider if you have a reliable dealer in your neck of the woods.
Another one you might consider when the time comes is the NH CR960 or 970 if you have a good dealer close by. It would have virtually the same cab as CaseIH and is the platform around which that basic machine was designed. The CIH rotor system was retrofitted to it along with some changes in the way it drives to make the red version.
