Combines Combine Trading Give me your best guess

If you sold your machines private party and then bought a used 2388, I think you could get close to even, or maybe come out ahead. However, I doubt that any dealer is going to be thrilled about picking up two more used machines and getting no cash. I suggest that you go to the dealer proposing to trade your machine, and have your buddy do the same thing for his machine totally separately. looking at those numbers might make it easier to see if you are getting penalized for trading both together.

CarlP, I think Farm Kid2 has the right idea. No dealer is going to want to pick up two combines and several heads and not get any cash to boot. In fact I'm guessing that if you go to the dealer with your proposal it will cost you $20 to $30 grand to boot to trade for a low hr. 2388 and $30 to $40 grand to trade for a new one plus heads. I like your idea of sharing a combine. I have two neighbors that share a 9600 Deere. They both farm about 700 acres of corn, beans, milo, and wheat. As far As I know it seems to work pretty good for them. let us know what kind of deal you make and good luck!! K.A.

Did you think about leasing a combineIJ leasing is just a formal name for rent. Each party could pay for the hours used and perhaps avoid hard feelings later. I would get a 30 ft head _ 8 row ch to help on the acres per combine hour. You should get 7 to 10 acres per engine hour. Use the value of the old equipment as rent or trade for new heads and lease the box. Get field tracker, it will pay for itself in the long run. Good luck Carl !
