First off I would reccomend that you take out your beater bars that are on the rock trap. My local dealer gave me a different sprocket to put on to ease combining. If you dont have a adjustable chaffer it would be a good idea so you can get the cleanst sample. Some people say if you have smoth sickle sections it works better for cutting. The flax is easiest to cut if you run the same direction you seeded. This way depending on row spacing only a portion of the knife is actually being used. I find that the knife will jam if you go directly against the row because the whole knife is cutting. I run a 30' 1010 and the wobble box won't take any tough flax. The only thing we do on our 2188 is to close the top sieve fairly tight. This year due to tough threshing we ran 3 cover plates instead of 2. Tough straw will also take the knives out of your chopper. We check the bolts at least daily to make sure they are tight.
