Combines Comments and Ideas on the new AFX 7010 8010

Those of us who haven't seen the 7010_8010 are pretty interested too. how about starting with your comments.

From what i seen the of the 8010 i thought it handled a 12 row head very well the grain sample was very clean it did not have the ground up fines that you noramlly get out of a 2300 series. The new holland shaker pan seems to work very well instead of the auger bed that case uses the 10.3 liter Iveco engine seems to run very well. I was very impressed by the chopper set up all you do is pull 2 pins to change the way it spreads or windrows. The biggest improvement is the clean grain elevator it is a major step over the 2300s the rotor has not really changed except for the increased the angle of it and the curved inlet flighting instead of elephant ears. The sieve area is not as wide as the 2300 series but it is suppose to 40 % larger than the 2300s. I think once the bugs are out of it they will have somthing to compete with deere, agco, and cat

MX270, I just got back from the St. louis farm show and there was no AFX combine to see(no CIH or JD or Cat combines, only NH, Gleaner and MF). I was sure looking forward to see one. The new NH TG tractors sure look nice, didn't think they could outdo a Genesis. IlNH

I saw the AFX at the Red Deer Agritrade show in early November. But, I have not seen it perform. It looks like they have made good improvements (feederhouse, cab, etc). But, lots not to be desired (hydraulic lines to no end!!!, hyd pumps, a long driveshaft on the right side of the combine) This driveline looks extremely crude!!!! It looks like a lot of European influence went into the AFX. The 2300 series simplicity is gone. The AFX may perform now, but I have my concerns with reliablity. My 2388's will be staying on the farm longer than I would have wanted. The only new design I am starting to warm up to is the new Massey 9000 series. I will be taking a serious look at them when I will be trading. Only my 2 cents worth.

I saw an 8010 on display (not demonstrating yet) at Husker Harvest Days. I also saw the NH CR960. It was demonstrating. Two things hold me back: The list price for this class 7 machine is 358k with a 12 row head and 30 foot flex. The base machine weighs in in the mid 30k range. If the CIH 8010 relates to the CR in these 2 areas, I can't afford one and don't want the weight of it on my soils.

A big 10-4 on the new AFX, I second your liking to the new 9000 series Massey. I hope they can come out like a biting sow! How does the AGCO draper compare to MacDon 972' features, look a little clumbersome to meIJ

What do you meanIJ (Hooking to combineIJ Drive SystemsIJ, etc.) What do you primarily cutIJ I have friends that have 2002 heads on 220Xl Swather Tractors. No problems at all. The new Shumacher knife drive is second to none.
