I don't see a problem with it if accidents or that sort of thing do not happen.

Good point. I hope if such a thing gets promoted, other combine-related events can be added including some dramatic safety clinics to keep the observers interested.

That would be interesting to watch, however I dont think I would want to participate because of logistics like how would a guy get his machine to the field of battleIJ And if I did, I would blow the competition away with my Hyperized R60. (big grin)

I would hope the contest would be sponsored by dealers of respective lines to have some combines already provided. I'm still not suggesting corporate involvement, but a dealer is still an individual. I have already thought of the hyperized Gleaners and other after-market retro's. They are not to be disqualified by any means, but it would take another event just for modified combines, while the chief focus can still be stock machines. I can see the potential for adding more and more to such events as imagination and necessity prevail.

I can envision an antique class, as well. Would give the collectors a chance to show what can be done with the old pull-types. (Yes, there are actually people who restore old pull-type combines for show and tell).

You are right about restoring old combines. I've done some myself on SP as well as PT. I think it is important to preserve such a part of our ag heritage. I don't know if there would ever be enough of them to constitute a match, but just to bring some to such an event would certainly add flavor and generate more respect for our combine classics.
