Combines concave cover plates

I use cover plates all the time. We use wide wire(wide opening between wires) concaves and cover up to 50% of the concave in tough threshing conditions like spring wheat, durum, flax. In field peas and barley we take off all cover plates so the large seeds get out of the concave area as soon as possible. We don't grow corn or soybeans much in western Canada but I don't think you would need cover plates since they are large seeds and the longer you keep them in the concave the more kernel damage there will be. I was sold some cover plates with the Harvest Services round rod concaves.Was told I would probably need them for beans,but I hated to think about taking them back out for corn.So I tried it without them for beans,and got along just fine.Bottom line, I've got some new ones to sell if you really want to buy some.You said corn and beans,so I assume you mean Midwest conditions.
