We set ours at 7:00 o'clock looking at it from the back of the combine. If you look over top of the beater or chopper you can see exactly where it is contacting. This has worked great on 1482's and 2188. Moving the contact point either way will overload that side of the sieves. It is also important to find this point then back off the adjuster just enough so it is not touching and set your stops here. In hard thresh wheat having an almost 0 gap is probably as critical as where the contact is. 1000 rpm empty rotor speed will also help, a new belt or tightening the old one will get this speed.
