Combines Concave levelling R52

the concave bars are 2" deep when new. IF you have more than 1_8th " of wear , we either replace or drop out and build up, hardsurface and grind level for another thousand hours of service. Compare the RH side to the lH side at extreme ends as the RH side never wears much. This is where the added extended helical and Dans rotor sweeps come into play as they prevent the double pass and thus most of the wear on the lH grate. There is also the possiblity of a warped grate due to ingestion of foreign object. We have successfully straightend these 2 get them back into service. It is more of an art than a science involving a large channel iron and a sledge. Finally we have seen a few broke grates. This is always due to either ingestion or worn helicals which result in cage constipation and no where for the material to go except trying to exit through the middle.

When you pull cylinder you will follow 2nd helical from gearbox on that machine and see where it drops back onto feeder. From there you can find picture in hyper mods site of helical extended over corner of feeder opening to concave. Run helical at a steep enough angle for as not to disturb flow from chain to concave. Gleaners third helical extention kit for the big rotors does get to much into flow in my opinion. I will take a look at Gleaners filler to see if I can trim it and angle the helical more to get it out of flow. That Gleaner kit may work just fine for R50 with the same type of modification. Don't forget to take every precaution to prevent chain from jumping a tooth when filler is installed. That means sprocket stripper for corn or maybe like some do is leave chain on fast. Fast is very fast if corn varible is speeded up and that scares me a bit. I'm no good at getting pictures on hear but could forward you a couple of sweeps if you get me an address. You may be better off tring to run without reverse bars and that sort of thing untill sweeps are more tested. Reverse bars, worn helicals, and normal wear likely have most to do with worn concave and cylinder bars in that area but I'm sure the helical extention and sweeps will help someday. I'll get some better pictures of sweeps to Toml at hyper mod site ASAP.
