We run a 1480 and 1482 with Harvest large wire concaves and cover plates and Harvest fixed air foil chaffer's We harvest everything from sunflower, field pea, wheat, oats, barley, flax with the same concaves. Just add or remove cover plates. We run three cover plates for flax or wheat, two for oats or barley, none for pea or SF.Our rotor bars are about worn out but we still get a good thresh so we leave them alone. We ran this setup with worn and bent IH concaves and still did a good job. Don't miss that dirty job of changing concaves a couple times a season.

So do you put all three cover plates in the front concave for wheat and all two in the front for oatsIJ

We cover the front 1-1_2 concaves with 3 coverplates and the front concave when we use 2. We harvest a lot of wheat and flax with a stripper header and have no problem keeping enough material on the concaves for a good thresh with the large wire concaves and cover plates.

We do not remove any wires for wheat harvest.I have not had a chance to use them in corn as corn does not do well in our area, we are too cool and dry for corn.
