The 1859 will fit. The elec. vari speed reel should also work, as most 510"s had that on them.It is just a two way switch . If it has elec. height then it is a later model 1859. Massey made a conversion kit for the older 700 series, and the 510s. We installed one on our 750 for $480 for the kit, quite a few years back. Came with a sheet that showed how to hook up to various MF combines, the 510 being one of them. It's possible that you could piece one together form a salvage yard. Check with your dealer, he might still have some of the old information. Joe

Taking for granted you have quick attach, the 1859 head can be used very well. The problem arises if you wish to have Automatic header height control. Many just use this head and let the bar float on the ground, manually controlling the height and relationship of the cutterbar to auger trough. The Auto header height control was optional on MF 510 and consisted of a separate valve in an extention mounted on the front curvature of the cab console. There was a cable which ran from the valve to the header to obtain the feedback from the skid shoe sensors. It may be a sizeable job to install this option from a wrecker, but it can be done. Variable speed electric control can be wired up very easily, and many MF 510s had it already installed. Good luck!
