First of all, Why would you want to go throu all of the work to convert your machine. I would suggest that you try the AirJet Chaffer before you go and do all of that work. If you have located the parts at a salvage yard, you can do the job with no fabrication. The piece you mention that needs changing to make the bottom pan fit can also come from the salvage yard. I got mine from abilene machine. Every required piece was in one kit for about 1_3 what new would have been. Put some railroad crossties under the machine and go to work disassembling. The entire project could be done in a day if you stay at it. My son and I did it in two afternoons.
