Combines corn head sencors on 1020 for wheat with Field Tracker

A 1020 should be in the locked up position when combining wheat. Don't forget to pin both ends of the cutterbar in addition to installing the straps. The offset should go towards the runner. I did have a set of corn head sensors on a 1010 for automatic tracker in wheat on a 1680 and it worked great. Especially helpful in short wheat at night given a 1600 series lighting

What happens if you don't lock the header out to combine wheatIJ Also if you have some downed wheat you couldn't float it then. Is there any way to put extensions on so the sensor picks it up and cuts the wheat at a uniform heightIJ We have a 1660 (1989) and I don't think you can set it to stop in the same position every time. It has all the stuff on it except the automatic header speed control. let me know if people have tried any of these things.

Sorry I didn't answer this earlier, but have been away from the office for a while. If you leave the cutterbar unlocked chances are that the wheat will slide right off the header due to the downward slope of the head table. Can't pull the front feeder plate back far enough to compensate and even if you could the angle of attach for the head would be all wrong. Tracker works from the sensors mounted to each end divider. AHHC runs from a sensor pad one each runner. Each of these pads is in turn attached to a pipe which transfers the motion via cable to the AHHC sensor pot mounted on the rear of the head. 1600 series and 21-2300 series heads are different. Also if you cut with the head unlocked it will screw up all the sensor pad adjustments. We see this just transporting headers on trailers. The corn head kit does have longer sensing rods to allow the head to run higher and still sense the ground. Remember that Field Tracker is a ground avoidance system, while AHHC is ground seeking.
