I like to run mine at 670, but I hear of guys running them faster. Do you have any ears flying out of the head at 800IJ

I am not having any trouble with ears flying out of the head. It seems to be doing a good job...I just wondered if you could run it too fastIJ Thanks for your response.

Do you know what gear setting the corn head drives areIJ There are three speeds, with one large and one small gear under the oil pan sheets. Check that, if you have them on the fast setting (big one driving small one on both sides) you should be able to slow down you front end and not wear out the feeder chain as fast. Top rpm should be closer to 700 than 800, adjust the top vari sheave to get minimum 1_8" clearance between the reverser sheaves when the feeder house is slowed as low as it can go. gs
