You might also consider looking in to golden harvst,I have been a dealer now for quite some time I have done my own side by side plots with fs, pioneer and nk , all their recomended variety and none could beat it, some tied but none has topped the yeild not to mention I can't get pioneer to stand long enough to dry down.

I am just curious as to why you are still planting Pioneer 3394IJ It dates back to 1992 or before. I don't know about the other numbers you mentioned or there age. More power to you if 3394 still does the trick for you, but it hasn't even been an option in my neighborhood since '96. I am sure you would be happy with a newer one like the 33N09 that you mentioned. Good luck to you as we all have the same dilemmas facing us right now with seed selection

Thanks, yeah I was typing the wrong number when I was saying the 3394, I now realise it looks like im planting corn Ive had around for 8 years!

Can you tell what specific hybrids you recommend and soil conditions and what not. Thanks for the advice.

Before you Plant anything that anyone recomends to you go to icorn.com and use their crossheck to compare what they are recommending to something you know. By using Crosscheck I compared P33N09 to Icorn 111B3 and in 36 test plots 111B3 was 1.5 bushel less than P33N09 but it was 2 points drier, much less per bag to buy, and has much better roots and stalks. By the way I don't plant all Icorn but I do use crosscheck to verify anything that I do plant is the best I can plant. It's all non-biased data from Universities,First, etc.

I also went to Illinois corn growers website and used their "cornpicker" to compare these hybrids. You have to be a member of Illinois Corn growers to get in (I think $50_year) but from their data you would make that up in 1 acre of corn. I again compared P33M09 to Icorn 111B3 and according to their indpendent plot data you would make $45 more per acre by planting the Icorn.

I've planted lots of different hybrids from many different companies over the past years. I'm located in North Central Iowa. Among my favorite corns in 2004 were: (in no particular order) - Pfister 2295 (106 day) - Pfister 1680 (102 day) - Gold Country 94-01CB (94 day) - Gold Country 103-02 (102 day) - legend 5535 (105 day, old Patriot 4060)

I live in southern Ill. and I have a wide variety of soil types. I do have a lot of creek bottoms but I also have my fair share of hills and in between. If you can tell me your area and some of your soil types I would love to try to match up some hybrids for you, and I can e-mail or fax some of the test and info on the corn it self.
