Combines corn in fan on 2388

In my opinion, the cross auger gets overloaded, letting the grain spill forward into the fan. Being headed downhill just makes it worse. Are you running the clean grain elevator at high speedIJ Are the paddles on the clean grain elevator chain in good conditionIJ There is a cone that is supposed to up the capacity. I think it's standard on the later 2388's, but I don't know which year they switched. It might help if you don't already have itIJ

Farm Kid thanks for your thoughts. This a 2001 2388 and I was wondering what is this cone you are talking about to speed up the clean grain elevator, I would like to know more about it. The elevator chain and paddles are in good shape and I figured that was the only way corn could get in the fan but I didn't know how to stop it

They added the cone in 2002. It is just a piece of tin that funnels more grain into the clean grain elevator. You can add it easily, once the chaffer and seive are removed. They claim 15% more capacity. As for the high seed, there are two sets of sprockets that drive the augers. It will tell you how to get the high speed in the operators manual. I think the drive sprocket just slips over on the shaft, as I recall. The larger sprocket will run the fastest. Personally, I've never been able to tell that the faster speed handled more grain, but we don't have the cone installed. Mike

I found the problem a fine thread 3_8 bolt in the front corner of top sieve had fell out causing a break in the side of the sieve. New bolt and a little mig weld and it is working good again. Thanks kid2 I appreciate the info. ken
