it looks nasty after harvest , but we have run faster at a slow speed on the header and 'lean' the stalks so as to have the ears pulling with a stalk cushion. Not the best senario but sometimes conditions are just tough. The grain ledges (round rods) on the gleaner stripper plates are a little tougher on but shelling but the savings are generally much better than competitors w_o them. I ran a late NH head on a Gleaner this year and it worked really nice,maybe a tad less loss than the old Hugger I run actually at 24+%, as corn dried the header loss dramatically increased over what a hugger would have. The grain ledges work. Which brings the final point, if the round rods are worn about 8" up from the front it makes a funnel or blockage point which might be a problem hereIJ.
