Start by getting rid of the filler bars. You want as much open space on concave as possible to get corn separated there. We are running the same setup as you describe but don't even use the filler bars for beans. No problem getting a good thresh so far. I'll bet that will help a bit. Good luck!

yes and also your cyl clearance may be too wide. We like to see mostly whole cobs with a "candy cane " around them. Too wide a clearance will result in threshing over the sep grate. Usually cyl clearance is 1_16 less than the diameter of an average shelled cob. As corn dries your loss will go away. In the meantime have you tried the bars bolted to the bottom of the sep grateIJ And your wires(everyotherone) in the sep. grate are pulled as well rightIJ

Have removed every other wire across whole cage and have installed bars in bottom of separator. Will remove fillers this morning. Nowrunning about 1-1_8 clearance and starting to see more whole cobs, but still grinding them up a lot,maybe from the chopperIJ How about lowering the front of the concave a littleIJ Also have the right side of the shoe taking most of the crop. Any way to spread it out a bit more evenlyIJ have fingers and short piece of auger on right side of dist auger now. Have some grain falling from the front of the shoe into fan duct visible thru large hole in the side of the frame. Which seal is the likely culpritIJ Gonna crawl under to see if I can see which, but don't know if I will be able to see much. Thanks for all the help and advice. Rob.

Thanks guys. Thought I corrected the leak, but the seal at the front of the shoe keeps working out from where it is supposed to be.At least I know where the leak is, now to crawl in there and do something about it. I'll lower the front grate and see what happens. Hopefully this will stop cob grinding. Much rain,cool temps, and low sunlight has produced a soft cob that really breaks up easily this year.
