Combines cornhead for F2 gas

I just picked up an A330 for a K2, CASEIH dealer had it, ran me $600. An F2 gasser should waddle right along with an A430 or A438. Avoid the "orange" head with a passion. In your area I would make a fast pass by Mayer's and check out any A430's they might have. While you're at it see what they would want if you took a pair. The last A438 head I bought for an F ran me $3000. (And a real nice crop scouting, school teacher fellow bought us dinner at a Wendy's in Jeffersonville that day). One point to be aware of, you might need the drive sprockets on machine for some heads. I had to change the drives when we changed from the FG438 to the A438. Those 2 sprockets were somewhat of a surprise.

Russ, I was looking for an A330 for my K2 not too long ago, before I decided I'll keep ear cribbing because shelled corn wasn't worth the cost of converting to a six-row narrow planter, buying a dryer, and a corn head. The only A330s I saw were in the $2000 range! Where, oh, where did you manage to find one for $600IJ That KF335 orange I found still sits where it is, haven't had a chance to go get it. The owner may even give it to me now. I figure I'd grab it, in case I ever run out of crib space and need to shell 10 acres or so.

Where did I find headIJ Carlisle Farm Service, head came off a Field Queen forage harvestor. Son works for Farm Service as parts man and called me as soon as person trading even started making "noises". I don't have narrow row planters, but just could not pass up this head. Now I can start to look for a planter.

Russ, if you're looking for a good, low-cost narrow row planter, you can try what I did (see link) and buy two four-row wide planters and make them into a six-row narrow. Not too difficult and very cost efficient. Still one of the best row units available today. I saw several used Deutz planters for sale in the Iowa Farmer paper classifieds. (http:__www.iowafarmer.com_pdfpages.htm) I remember a seeing an 8-30 Deutz for $1700. Probably needs coulters and fresh paint, but that's still darn cheap for a no-til ready planter. I know several dealers here in Iowa who go to PA to haul back semi loads of Gehl and NH (I think NH is still built in PAIJIJ) skidloaders. May be able to work a deal with one of them to haul planter out to PAIJ Russ (yes, there are two of us!)

NH skid loader, manure spreader, hay rake plant @ Belleville is about 50 miles from me. I will agree with the DA 385 planter. local Gleaner, AGCO, Hesston dealer is also a landoll planter dealer. We are planning on building one up before next planting season. Both of us are just a touch on busy side right now. Plan is 6-30's and drag it with a 6265. Oh yeah, CASEIH dealer son works for also has AGCO tractors, and WHITE planters at his "parent" store.

We pull our 6-30 with a 6275 FWA. Handles it real nicely for power (high 2nd, about 1800 rpm),but the hyd. are a little slow with two wheel lift cylinders (two master, two slave). I think the planter would raise fine with only one set of transport wheels but it is nice having four tires under it when full of seed and fertilizer on soft ground.
