Combines cornhead rebuild 1083 or new 2208

In '01 we bought a wore out 963 and updated it with the new style stock rolls and new poly snouts, the same year a neighbor traded their 1063 for a new 2206. They've ran a few more acres through their 2206 but it's completely wore out and in worse shape than our 963, they are trading for a new Drago head this summer. Something else to consider is that there are very few aftermarket parts available for the 2200 heads so you have to pay dealer prices on almost everything.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping a few others would have chimed in by now, but I guess there are not interested. I agree from my findings that current 2208 replacement parts are primarily supported by the dealerships. Hopefully, the aftermarket availability improves. Anyway, we have plugged and chugged some numbers for our business. The magic number says that a new 2208 must gather approximately 1.3 additional bushels per acre in order to cover its cost. Therefore, I pose the following question. Is there a 1.3 bu_ac or greater advantage with a new 2208 over a well maintained 1083.
