I have the same problem on 10 series. I have been putting a pretty thick coat of grease on everything at storage, and disconnecting positive cables. Seems to help.

Matt-NWOH-- We experienced a similar case on a lately JD-combine.(1 Season) We was told to replace the batteries by JD, even repaint the battery-case on warranty! JD claimed that the corrosion could be caused by acid-over-filled batteries (from factory)by accident! We have not seen similar cases beside this! I was told that JD changed their Partnumber for batteries, so I think new and better batteries are in machines being produced today. Regards M.Skoubo, Denmark

The alternator may be over-charging and boiling the acid out of the batteries. I would take the alternator off and have it checked. It may have a bad regulator. lOl

You can buy little round peices of felt that u put around the battery post and soak in oil... they cost around a buck for 4... then coat the post and clamp with neversieze and then put the clamp back on... that should pretty much solve it... its been working for me that last few years on all my equipment

We had the same trouble. Did the batteries happen to be JD Hibernator batteries cause they r crap. Replace them with a better quality battery and u will be fine. Paint your battery box replace the hold down if it is eaten through and u will be ok. If u don't it shorts out the battery and u will be replacing alternators. Have had guys blow up batteries here blow alternators even fires starting from those batteries. Good luck.
