Don, it's Tom here. I was wondering if you got the hydraulic problem on the tr fix, and what caused the problem. I wish I could have stayed out in Oklahoma longer, but had to much work at home.

Thanks for reminding me. Yes we did get it fixed-finally. We were having trouble with the header raise circuit. It would not respond when you clicked the button. sometimes it would ,but not always. It was worse when the oil was hot. Anyway various specialists tried everything they knew. Nothing worked. Right from the start two people said to change the "O" rings. Finally Randy the dealer came down from Syracuse Ne. to lincoln Ks.on a Sunday and found one "o" ring missing and the other one out of shape. That completely solved the problem. What a relief, that was really a inconvenience especially in muddy conditions and lodged wheat. We ran into severe lodging especially on top of terraces where wheat is usually double planted. This was most prevelant SW of Witchita around Conway Springs. TR-99 is running great at lincoln Ks. in some 60-80 bu. wheat. That is just beautiful.last weekend a 1.3 inch rain lowered the test wt. from 63-4 to 58-9. What a loss, so you can see why a farmer wants as many machines as possible when his wheat is ready. 5 pounds off a bu. at $3. wheat amounts to about $12 _a. or almost enough to pay the harvesting.Wheat is about $2.69 out there now. lDP is $.14. They are piling wheat on the ground to avoid harvest delays. The other day we saw about 150 trucks in line at Concordia Ks.

Hello Don, Glad to hear your getting on so well with the CR, don't think I'll see too many here in Northern Ireland but might see a CX or two!! hope we get on as well with our new 470 lexion which should arrive this week. Sounds as if I should of came on USA harvest in 2003 and not 2002,might of seen some yields this year that would be more respectable!!! Ref the flashing yellow beacons, these have been standard on all agri machines here in the U.K. for a few years now as it is the law that they must be flashing when driving on dual carriageways (interstates) similar to you guys putting on your four way flashers. They are handy on our NH TX64+ turning on automatically to let the man on the cart know to "buck up his ideas" its time to dump!!

Thanks for the diary on your wheat harvest Don! Now, being that I'm stupid and all, explain to me how an extra 10,000n's and few more hp out of the same motor equate to a better "mudder"IJ Tires are pretty relative so their not a solution. Can't see how the buoyancy from an extra 10,000lbs....5tons...166bu extra of wheat.....could help in a muddy scenarioIJ The pshysics just aren't soundIJ JD

Your assumptions are ok except that the grain tank weight is the same as a TR-99 w_maurer extensions.HP helps, tire lugs help, ground clearance helps, especially w_thetruss rod under the axle on the 99. Also they recommend that you run in second gear rather than 3rd to give the hydro more torque. It works too. I don't know what to tell you about compactionIJ I guess You use a deep ripper. The grain cart is more of a compactor, and what combine is lighter these daysIJ

The CR940 is idle right now. It is a lincoln Ne. I had hoped to get it to Chadron Ne. but that is uncertain right now.

You ask what combine is lighterIJ The answer (up through a solid class 7 machine) is Gleaner. More performance per pound than any design combine made today.
