Only ran mine in wheat, soybeans, and corn, so if you want to know what I think e mail me I wont get a call from mother CNH. But as if I really care any more.
You mentioned harvesting flax. I was impressed with the flax straw chopping job a guy who farms near me did with his new conventional New Holland combine.Normally tough flax straw is harvested with a stripper header and left standing or dropped in rows and burned to dispose of it,as a normal chopper does little to break it up. He has what he calls the "fine cut" chopper. It shredded flax straw into tiny bits that fell through the stubbles, all the way to the ground. I suspect it is fine enough to cause no problems with no till seeding. I asked him if that chopper used a lot of power to do that kind of chopping job. He said it would slow the combine about 1 mph compared to the standard chopper setting.
Hello, We have a CR970 and I can say you will not be dissapointed in the capacity of this machine. If you get one of these, make sure it has a redekop MAV chopper, not the New Holland one. The performance of this chopper is un mached. We too are zero till, and have NO problems with straw management.
