Combines Crossflow vs paddle fan and Airjet sieve

My suggestion is, that if you have a "short shoe" combine, stay with the paddle fan and install the Hillco fan kit. If you have a "long shoe" combine you can use either fan but still use the Hillo fan kit on the paddle fan. Either fan will supply the AirJet Chaffer with enough air.

Greedy Guts I ran an air jet long chaffer this year with a paddle fan and hillco. I also cut out the side panels on the fan and removed the side wind shields. I centered the fan and adjusted the cutoff point. The combination works fine. I will say though, that I only had a chance to run the air jet part of the season. We had a rather odd weather year and the grass seed was somewhat difficult to set the combine for. I would suggest that you email Marvin Gorden with the crops you raise and any other info about hills and so forth. And then if it is suggested, call him on his 800 number. The thing with the air jet is SOMETIMES, not all the time, just sometimes, the air jet chaffer will have a little straw spearing problem. Marvin is working on something for the canola, so be sure and visit with him.

I think my sieve is a long one, I will measure it to make sure. A Hillco kit will be much cheaper than a crossflow fan, has anyone fitted a crossflow in place of a paddle fanIJ

If your chaffer measures about 76 inches front to rear it is a long shoe version. In that case either the paddle fan with the Hillco kit or the cross-flow conversion will work well with the AirJet chaffer. You will get the most for your money by installing the Hillco fan kit and the AirJet chaffer.
