The German machines have always had a reputation for being very expensive to maintain in Canada. Their performance has been good, cost of ownership (factoring depreciation, parts_service, reliability) has been poor. Deere has a reputation for fair performance, good product reliabilty and good resale value. JUdgement is pending on resale of the Cat-Claws machines, or thir long term reliability. Cleaning ability of the Deere CTS has been a problem in dry canola where everything gets broken up pretty good. The system does quite well in cereals.
