I have a CTS and canola is a pain to harvest as well. It's a matter of adjustments and addon's. Maybe try those filler plates for the top_back of the concave. I haven't done mine yet so I can't tell you if they are going to work yet. Canola is a brittle stem crop and the chaffer is always overloaded. I have only been able to go maybe 2 mile an hour at the most. My canola crop is irrigated so the swath is heavier.
Well, have installed the back plates on the concave but still overloading the shoe. I guess the fact that the swath is so dry that it really won't matter what a guy add's on. I am going to try combining canola early in the morning, hopefully it will be tougher(damper)
Have you ever heard of "Kamsack Blanks"IJ I have them on my CTS, basically they are 3 sets of covers for the rear of the tine grates. By closing them you send more of the pulverized material out the back end. Some of the performance data that I have seen would indicate that using these should put capacity close to a 9600.
Hi Farmboy, I bought a used CTS last year and am also trying to get better performance in canola. I bought 12 separator blanks from my JD dealer (user's manual recommends 24). I haven't seen a great improvement with these. What's the difference between the Kamsack Blanks and JD blanksIJ Do you have a webpage or phone number where I can get more info on the Kamsack BlanksIJ Thanks.
