Combines Cummins engine fan failure

My neighbor had that happen on his R-62 about two three yrs. ago he got lucky it didn't hit anything!!! took one off a new machine and away he went. wonder if this is a serial number problem bad batch of bladesIJIJIJ sure could be bad if that blade flew the wrong way. good luck Bob

I just took out the radiator for the third time last night. We bought the combine used. First problem was I think someone bent over one of the fan blades to get a new air conditioner belt on. The blade broke off and went through about 6 tubes. It broke on a friday night. One dealer in possibly Washington state was only place in the country to have one. Also ended up coming from Batavia. So I removed the radiator and patched it best I could, put it back in, removed The fan and drove it home. Had to stop and let it cool off three times on the way home. Monday morning I took the radiator to a shop and had it fixed right. Now fast forward to yesterday. One of the gussets in the fan shroud broke out and went through the radiator again. Moral of the story is make sure you re weld any baffels or gussets that have been dammaged. also check the pulley on the air conditioner as mine had a slight ding in it which took out the bearing also this year. This won't help anybody but may make you chuckle and have a quick look before you start that engine! The local Gleaner agent parked an N7 out in his yard for a week or so. One of our possums, about the size of a very large domestic cat, found a very comfortable home in the radiator housing, between the fan and the radiator core. The inevitable happened! The combine was started and the possum took out the radiator, the fan and other assorted bits plus a few thousand bits of mashed up and stinking possum to be cleaned out of everything. Cheers.
