You may be lucky enough that starter drive area just got full enough of dirt that starter wouldn't disengage. If it wasn't very long since you started machine your chances are better. If starter sticks on the pull-in windings on fuel solinoid are also on and will get hot very quickly. Bring starter and fuel solinoid with you on your parts run and maybe only starter will need to be cleaned. I wish you best of luck. Dan

I want to thank Dan and Rolf for the help. Although the engine compartment and fly wheel looked clean, there was a some dust inside the starter. I got a new fuel shutoff solenoid and a new solenoid for the starter. The combine now starts when I turn the key and shuts down when I turn the key off, and there are no funny noises while it runs: just the way I like it.
