Combines Cummins motor problems in 62 65

Yes we have had a problem with our 2000 R62 also, had Cummins out at a cost of $3500.00 last fall, it didn't even have 1200 engine hours on it, i feel they should have stood behind that also. Ours seemed like it was a plugged filter, came home barely running and changed the filter and still no better, Cummins came out and took the pump off and inside plastic pieces were cracked and actually broken apart, Cummins man said it is a poor design, there is a large spring and at full throttle smacks the plastic or bakelite piece so hard it breaks apart inside after time. Not so sure if i want another Gleaner but they are still the easiest to work on, wish Agco would change the flex heads soon to cut lower.

Problems with a cumminsIJ Yes, '02 R-62, original 8.3 blew, bolt left in intake manifold during manufacture, replacement engine has lots of water leaks through plugs etc. not being tightened properly. Quality control issue at factory, maybe. I would more likely suspect supreme arrogance from cummins in general as service is nearly non existent also. Regards, Silver aussie.

Cummins has been good so far. At least as good as any other engine I've been around. Had one QSC with oil out blowby in cold temps. Problem in crankcase vent system and Cummins has a kit. Another would stumble from time to time. Grabed ahold of wiring harness under engine and it would stumble every time I moved it just right. Tore apart harness to fine wire connector that was not soldered together well enough. Only one other problem and that was barely a weep of fuel from fuel pump. They replaced pump or at least a section of it to dry it up. Overall I'm very happy with these engines. l10s and M11s have been equally as good for me. Dusty conditions should be no problem for these machines. The fuel filter systems should have no problem dealing with this if changed at recommended intervals. Don't know why mechanic would say they shouldn't be in a combine. It's not like the old days where a guy runs until he starts losing power and then change filters. Do not fill filters before installation for you are likely dumping junk in clean side of filter. I think all electronic engines are just as fussy with fuel these days. Doubt this has anything to do with plastic piece or whatever breaking but maybe. Anyway sorry to hear of your luck but maybe wiggleing harness under engine will set off your stumbling problem. Good luck
