I used the chopper deflector fins off of a JD combine, 8820 I think. I used the middle fins as they are the smallest and least aggresive. I put three on each side mounted on the top with the direction of throw correct for each side. I would think they could be reversed to be less aggresive to use them with a smaller head. I don't run any corn but I would think they would send a corn cob for a pretty good ride. Might want to go back the the rubber bats for corn. I also folded part of the rubber curtain back on its self. The spreaders and must be timed because they just clear the other spinner by a half and inch or so. They did a great job on my 1680, spread full 30ft if no side wind. If you have a salvage yard around, it makes a pretty cheap fix for the factory spreaders. A little red paint makes them look like they belong on the machine. JD no longer has the parts availible but I think Shoup has them in their catalog.
