I saw one in Farmshow recently where a guy in TN had made a 12 row from a 8 row and a 4 row I think. He split the 4 row and added the units to each end of the 8. Seems like the auger was a problem, but I can't recall what he did. I can dig through the pile and check if your interested.

My brother and I have done this twice on a deere head. Once from 8 to 10, then 10 to twelve. I'm not sure how similar they are but the deere has only two main frame members. We actually added to the auger tube but it would be simpler to buy the right length of tube and build a single section. Our auger has a hanger in the center. It's really pretty simple.

I'm not familiar with the CIH corn head but I have done this with JD heads. I would recommend building a new main frame based on current designs and finding a 12 row auger. Much simpler than trying to splice everything together and trying to keep things straight.

I built a 10 row 30 1000 series I had the frame made by Clarke Machine in south dakota they make a nice kit to make them. heavy frame and a real good custom auger kinda a deere_IH hybred but works great
