What area of North Dakota are you at. My bean job was north of Jamestown and the guy told me not to come because the frost had really decreased yields

Depends on the area. I would ask around locally to see what the going rate is up there. I usually charge something like $23-26_acre + .07 to .12 per bushel hauling, depending on the length of haul. The acre rate depends on how many acres the guy has, the size of fields, etc. In other words, if a guy wants me to drive very far to cut 80 acres, it'll cost him more than per acre than if he had 800 acres. If I have to change fields and move around alot I'll charge more than if he has 400 acre fields where I can just line out and run. With diesel prices moving upward you need to take that in consideration, too. Rule n1 - Don't lose money!

I am in southern Indiana. Around here I have heard around $20_acre as the going rate. But with diesel prices over $2 I am thinking 22-24 may not be out of line. Thanks for the comments. Would 5-7 acres an hour with a 1460 and 20 foot head be reasonableIJ
