Get a copy of High Plains Journal or go to their web site and look up the classified ads. There's always combiners looking for fall help, but harvest is also underway.
We run gleaners currently. We ran a massey last year for a 100 hrs and realy liked it. I would like to run the new machine but i fear getting traded into a new brand would be expensive.
What was the problem with the MF 760'sIJ Travelling around the midwest last summer I thought the MF 865 must have been a very popular custom cutters combine judging by the amount I saw parked up in many farmers scrap lots!! It is still a very popular model over here in the U.K. with smaller acreage farmers_agri contractors, they are worth a fortune here for parts.
The 760 had great capacity but that was if you could keep them going. By the time the 865 came out, farmers around here had already switched from MF to JD or IH. There were alot of 760_750_860_850 combines around here but I only know of one 865. Not very many people around here know MF made an 865.
Possibly it was more 850_860's I saw. local MF engineer has used engines out of old MF combines and transplanted them into 500_200_600 series MF tractors turning them into 6 cylinder powerhouses for years. He had a good market selling these into Southern Ireland, combine shell is then just used for cheap parts.
