RJ I know this is not what you are looking for, but my boss is looking for individuals to go on the harvest run this summer. We are based out of Crary, North Dakota. We will be running 3-2001 model 2388s, MX240_cart, plus 4 matching White triaxles straighttrucks. Post here if you are interested or want to talk with my boss. Otherwise, good luck finding a crew near you.

You might try getting a hold of Scott Payne at Imperial or John Crawford at Arapahoe. You also might try getting a hold of the U.S. Custom Harvesters assn.

It's been 10 years since I've spent much time on the plains. I think you're right that most custom cutters use CIH or John Deere. Gleaner is probably 3rd. New Holland used to advertise their parts truck that follows the harvest and certain dealers that had large parts inventories. They probably still have it. New Holland combines seem much more popular in the Canadian prairies or the corn belt, but I didn't see many in the dryland wheat country of the US except where there was irrigated corn there seemed to be more NH's. It's just my guess or opinion, but I would think that having a New Holland franchise on the U S plains in many cases would have been more desireable because of the Versatile tractor or the hay equipment they had.

New Holland has done a great job ine the past couple of years to promote their machines across the Wheatbelt. They run a Harvest Support Truck that starts in Texas and carries over 500 differnt line items dating back to the TR 96's. They also will help troubleshoot problems and if you get lucky may deliver parts to you. The number is 717-371-8222, Joe Batiuk is in charge and knows every inch of the NH combine.

New Holland doesn't have a lot of machines out there but they are around. Floyds Hrarvesting and a few other custom guys from the Assinoboia SASK. area also had machines. Mr. Peterson had the usualy problems adjusting to the rotary combine but he ended out having a pretty successful as far as I could tell. The Harvest Trailer was always their to help him out if he needed it.
