Combines cutterbar problems

Is your knife bar hitting the sickle bar when the sickle is at the ends of its travelIJ I solved this by removing the first wear plate on both of my heads. Another thing to look at is torque on the section nuts. I think it is 8 ft lbs if I remember correctly. And how are you installing new section boltsIJ The book says to use a press and not to pull them I with nuts. Remember 8 ft lbs (if I am correct) isnt very much. Tom in MN

if the head bolts are not overtorqued I would suggest the double cut is worn and out of spec thus causing an overload. Those double cuts require a tremedous amount of upkeep , especially in damp conditions. Here in the mid south they have to be replaced all new to cut wheat. In dry brittle bean stems they do fine. However now that the varieties have had tougher stems bred into them we find the double cut - kleen cut- tiger jaws (they have a new genII out which is supposed to be better) - are too expensive to run. Hart carters can be converted to std. Hart carter (don't like those countersunk sections) Gleaner or for that matter Deere guards and sections. Just my opinion.
