Why not use an air reel on your headIJ I run them and wouldnt be without one they are wonderful to use in short beans and will give a couple bushel an acre more as well.. They pay for them selves in one year pretty much.

I put on the paddles from the JD dealer, which seem to help. Just started cutting beans last night here in S. Dakota.

Which air-reel system are you usingIJ Is it an actual reel or the add on unit that attaches to your exiting reel. I have tall and short beans in same field so does it work well in bothIJ

I run an AWS system which is an attachment set up. In short beans they work wonderful and in really tall beans sometime the drop tubes will cause the pods to break open if the beans are really dry. For the most part I wouldn't be without one..

An AWS air reel will be your best bet for short beans. I had a crary air reel that had the directional tubes in the center of the reel and didn't like it. I much prefer the AWS system that I have today. It has been trouble free for three years and has made me a pile of money in short beans. The AWS system can have the blower attached to the header or directly on the combine depending on combine make and model.

Where do you get the AWS system, and how much does it cost. I have heard up to 2-3bu savings by using air. We have short beans and have lots of pods.
